Day trips and Holidays..

Were to start? I have been busy off having many adventures after a wonderful trip to the seaside just before Easter i went down to London for a couple of days to see exhibitions which was fantastic. The sun shone and there seemed to be lots of time and we managed to pack so much in. I visited the National Portrait Gallery for the first time and saw an incredible exhibition by Gerhard Richter. I was his portrait's which really drew me in, many were painted from family snapshots which i love to collect to see interpretation of them in paintings was amazing. It has made me want to riffle through all the old photographs from the 30's and 40's i have stashed away.
I also bought a lomography camera, a Diana F, i am so very excited but a little baffled by the whole process. But it came with such an inspiring book about the history and artists who use to cameras now. I was looking through Flicker and found this group, what you can do and the colours are great. So watch this space!...i hope to become a photographer yet!

I also went to see the Hat exhibition at the V and A which was really quite wonderful and had
some beautiful vintage hats and was really well displayed and the flowers...., it really is my favourite place in London. They also have just opened an incredible book shop and i saw books on 1940's fashion i had never seen before, i could have spent all day in there, well there and the tea rooms.

Living Threads Exhibition

Just to let you al know i have some work in an exhibition over at Long Eaton this week. It's up until Saturday.

I did a series of garments made out of table clothes with hand embroidered collars on them. It is the first time since college have made any day wear and am really pleased with them. I had to really think about the designs to get them to utilise the small amount of fabric i had available.
