MA Expo....come and see

Hello all,
The reason from my absence in blogging at late is that I have been finishing my MA in Fashion and Textiles which I finish next week. Here is a sample of my work which will be in the MA Expo show which opens this Friday and is showcasing lots of talented students work.
It is open Friday 15-23rd (closed Sundays) 11am -4pm, admission is free.

Old photographs needed....can you help?

I was wondering if anyone could help me...
I am currently researching a conference paper for my MA on the home dressmakers interpretation of summer dresses between 1935-55.
I would love to be able to include some home snapshots of women during this period, I am especially interested in people who know friends and relatives who were good with a sewing machine and did some home dressmaking.
Fingers crossed someone out there has some tucked away.

Do like a bargain?......Studio sale this coming Sunday

I am in the process of reorganising and streamlining my stash. So there fabrics, vintage patterns, books and clothes alongside lace and buttons all looking for a new home.

Making skirts is in the air....
This is a skirt sample I made last week for the Pattern Draft and make your own Skirt NCFE 20 week class I am running starting March 7th.
I made this from a small piece of 1960s print with some old spotty lining.
I just loved the colours but I did not have much so had to use the mustard spot to make it a bit more decent!
I made some matching welt pockets to tie the fabric together and am really pleased with how it has come together.

This was a really simple alteration from the basic skirt block. It is self faced at both the top and around the hem. This pattern is really versatile and can be made longer very easily for a not so short version.

New Hannah and Bella workshops at Spinster's Emporium
I am doing some workshops with Spinsters Emporium over at the Hopskinson Gallery in town (21 Station Street , Nottingham NG2 3AJ). If you haven't taken the chance to take a look at the renovations being made there it is well worth a trip. There are artists and craft studios, a cafe, exhibition space all with a great feel of Nottingham creativity.
